Beer Festivals – Beer Under the Big Top

I will be away for business during this one but Beer Under the Big Top looks like a blast.  This event is taking place 2 June 2018, with VIP starting at 12:30 and regulars common folk at 1:30.  Who cares which ticket you get they have over a 150 Beers being served and a ton of other things going on.  I am actually pissed that I can’t attend this one.  DAMN WORK!!!!  I need to hit the lottery and just be able to travel the world like I won’t to.  I am sulking right now, deep breath in, stare at the ceiling, eyes back to the screen, sip of my coffee, ok I am back now.  Continue Reading

DOW (Drinks of the Week) Featured Brew: Straight to Ale – He Ain’t Hefe

This week we are trying Straight to Ale Brewing Company’s “He Ain’t Hefe.”    These guys were founded in 09 and are located in Huntsville, Alabama.  My buddy Mike highly recommends stopping there if you are driving through.  They are housed in a vacant middle school where they have changed the beer game in Alabama.  Thanks for making great brews boys. Continue Reading

DOW (Drinks of the Week) Featured: River Horse Special Ale

This week we hit the second River Horse Brewing beer with their American Amber Ale also known as Special Ale.  IMG_4075.jpg

The Facts:

ABV: 5.5%

IBU: 22

My unsophisticated take on it:  It’s an amber ale like many other amber ale’s.  Not bad, I don’t know if  it will ever stick out in my mind like some other beers.  I liked their Roly Poly a bit more.  The boys from Jersey do have some other styles I would like to give a shot before I dismiss them from entering my Garage Fridge again.  They have a pumpkin I’ll try this fall and a Summer Blonde that I will track down some time this summer.  Keep up the good work boys.Continue Reading

DOW (Drinks of the Week) Featured Drink: Wild Ride Brewing’s Electric Fly

I can almost smell it, SUMMER!! Well at least better temperatures.  This week we are trying a second brew from Wild Ride Brewing Company from Redmond, Oregon.  A couple of weeks back we had their Nut Crusher Porter which was surprisingly good.  This week we try out their Electric Fly IPA (India Pale Ale).Continue Reading

DOW (Drinks of the Week) Wild Ride Brewing: Nut Crusher Peanut Butter Porter

Featured Beer:  Nut Crusher Peanut Butter Porter 6% ABV and only 18 IBU’s.

This weeks brew comes from Redmond, Oregon from Wild Ride Brewing CompanyIMG_3978These guys have been around since 2014 serving up great beers.  I don’t normally grab Porters, especially those with crazy flavors.  This beer claimed to be basically a peanut butter cup in a bottle.  I have to give these dudes credit this thing was good.  The peanut butter was subtle and the beer went down well.  I was surprised that it was so good.  I can’t tell you that I will ever crave this beer but it was nice for Easter Weekend.  If your into Porter’s and Porters with peanut butter flavor I highly suggest this one.  Plus there is an elephant on water ski’s on the label.  So there’s that. Continue Reading

DOW (Drinks of the Week) Left Coast Brewery: Una Mas

Featured Beer:

Left Coast Brewing Company – Una Mas 5.8 ABV and 25 IBU

These guys were tucked away on a shelf at the local LQ and I just so happened to stumble upon them.  This amber lager was actually really good.  It was smooth and went down well.  It really helped kick-start my awesome evening as well.  The hops were subtle and the brew was smooth.  Left coast has been around since about 2004 cranking out beer after beer located in  San Clemente, California.  I’m glad they were able to make it t the right coast. This beer, if I can find it again, will make its way to the garage fridge without a doubt.  I really enjoyed it and recommend everyone pick up a 6er of this.
