Well, they blew that one. The Eagles fell to the Cowboys 27-20 last night. The score is not a representation of effort or good play calling last night. The Eagles failed to establish anything good last night. They went 3 and out on the opening drive just to follow up with a pick on the second drive. My boy DP put it best last night that the Eagles lack a true identity this year. They are not a Team that can put up a ton of points, they are not a team that can pound the rock, they are not a solid defensive team. So what are they?
8 More games to go and the Eagles are loading up to make a run. This past week the Birds made a trade to acquire another offensive threat in Golden Tate. The Eagles look to have a second half season run starting with a division foe, the Dallas Cowboys.
Since the 2010 Super Bowl where Aaron Rodgers became the most loved QB in all of football, the Packers have struggled to get back to the big dance. Yes, they have been close and yes each year Rodgers is healthy they have a shot but that’s just it, it’s a shot. The year following their Super Bowl they went 15-1 and lost in the playoffs. They have been up and down since and Aaron Rodgers has struggled to stay healthy. It shows how difficult it can be to get back. I am greedy and want to see more Championships while we can.
The Eagles blew a 17-0 lead to lose the game 24-21. Once again the defense gave up late touchdowns to the Panthers and the offense couldn’t find a way to get back into it. There were mistakes made on both sides of the football and if they don’t fix it soon the Eagles could be on the outside looking in this year.
Last week I said that last weeks game against the Giants was going to kick start the season. Well, they steamrolled those boys in blue. This week the Birds have to travel to North Carolina to face the Panthers who are coming off of a bad loss. One team is down and one team is up, who will take it this week?
Well the Eagles got their first no doubt about it win this season by blowing out the Giants 34 – 13, my prediction by the way was 28-13. I was so close this week. Carson looked great tossing 278 yards and 3 TD’s. The running game was effective with 29 carries and 94 yards between Smallwood and Clement. The O-Line still struggled with Lane Johnson getting pushed around and Jason Peters getting owned. All in All this was the win we needed and now with a ten-day layoff the Birds can get healthy and really get this thing moving.
One thing is for sure the Eagles love to use the Giants to get the season rolling. Last year it was a 61 yard bomb field goal that got things going. Now that may have been week three and we are now in week 6, but there is no difference. We are coming off a bad loss, it’s a short week, and the Giants stink. The birds have to win this football game. Their is no option in the matter, the Eagles have to get a W against a division opponent before things get to out of hand.
It’s been a week since that terrible loss for the birds and I am still not over it. The birds had them beat and let them off the hook. The defense looked terrible and the secondary looked pedestrian at best. Hopefully, they have put that behind them and are looking at starting on a new foot this week.
The first drive was perfect. Carson overthrew a couple times but when it counted he kept the team moving and eventually hit Dallas Goedert in the Endzone for the rookies first TD. In the second drive, he made a couple moves scrambled got hit and bounced right back up. After the collective hush the crowd new Prince Wentz was back.
Carson Wentz is back!!!!!!!!! The Birds get their number one QB back this week against the Colts. This is a perfect game for him to come back in as the Colts are not that good on the defensive side of the ball. The only downfall is that Carson has to make B and C level receivers look good. That will be difficult. Let’s get to the Breakdown:
