The week a buddy came through big time bringing me 4 unique brews from the Saratoga area. With a high recommendation from Chris, I tried R.S Taylor and Sons Golden Ale. Great call, Great Beer, Cheers!!!!!
This week we bring you Half Full Brewery from Stamford, CT. I stumbled upon this brew in a potential blackout, if it wasn’t a blackout then it just magically appeared in my hotel brew fridge. Either way, I thank the beer gods for sending this one my way. The current temperatures in Connecticut are amazing and this Blonde / Pale Ale complements those temps perfectly. I would love to go on and on about who these guys are but you should really just go to this link, Our Story, and read it from them. It’s one of those chase your dream feel-good stories. Now onto the brew.
We had a little bit of a delay with this weeks DOW that we will have to blame on technical difficulties. Yeah we will go with that, tech issues. This weeks featured brew comes from the great state of Texas. Alamo Beer Company is located in San Antonio Texas only about a half mile from, well you guessed it the Alamo. The history of this company goes back a bit, but it’s rebirth and the brew we know now started back up in 1997. Eugene Simor is the founder of the revived Alamo and has been making some awesome brews for some time. This week we drink the Amber Lager, a Vienna Style Lager. Cheers Boys!!!!
This is my 2nd brew from Straight to Ale Brewing Company. This week we try their “Stop Work 689.” I hope it is as good as the Hefe I had a couple of weeks ago. The logo on the can appears to be a Foreman for the Devil. No grievances here boss you keep making dem good brews.
Well Saturday night was the night that i watched a 45 year man make his pro debut in a boxing match. You may have read a tale or two of the Freak when I was tracking his eating adventure in the Wing Bowl this past Feb. CLICK HERE TO SEE THAT TALE. Frankie feels like a local celeb and if you heard the two hundred people at the event on Saturday you would have trouble not believing that. FREAK FREAK FREAK the crowd chanted as he made his way to the ring. You could tell he was a bit nervous going into the fight but he managed to get through that. The Freak stood in his corner swaying with that anxious movement that looks like you’re trying hula hoop. DING DING the bell rang and these two men ran into each other like two rams going at it on a mountain side. Holy Christ!!!!!
This week we are trying Straight to Ale Brewing Company’s “He Ain’t Hefe.” These guys were founded in 09 and are located in Huntsville, Alabama. My buddy Mike highly recommends stopping there if you are driving through. They are housed in a vacant middle school where they have changed the beer game in Alabama. Thanks for making great brews boys.
It’s like 3 O’Clock in the afternoon and I am just getting to this. I wish I could feel my face. So as it goes, I drank a bit last night. Wait before you start to judge me I did attend a Fancy Ball. That’s right I am a bit sophisticated. We got to see some awesome friends, the governor, and had us a great time. We left after the social and dinner so we could bar hop a bit. For all those parents out their having a night with no kids is F@#$ing amazing. Sorry I love my kids but damn they are needy little humans. Here is a look back at another great week.
Summer is almost here and so are those delicious summer styled brews. Many of the beers are Belgian-Style White ales that have that touch of Orange in em. Cigar City Brewing Company out of Florida gives us Florida Cracker.
Man am I glad the weather is starting to break. It is so nice to be able to go outside and enjoy the weather. This week the wife got her tickets to the Eagles Women’s Day, we enjoyed some good brews, made some awesome food, did some yard work, and just had a damn good week.
This week we hit the second River Horse Brewing beer with their American Amber Ale also known as Special Ale.
My unsophisticated take on it: It’s an amber ale like many other amber ale’s. Not bad, I don’t know if it will ever stick out in my mind like some other beers. I liked their Roly Poly a bit more. The boys from Jersey do have some other styles I would like to give a shot before I dismiss them from entering my Garage Fridge again. They have a pumpkin I’ll try this fall and a Summer Blonde that I will track down some time this summer. Keep up the good work boys.
