DOW (Drinks of the Week)

This week we picked up a couple of 6 packs and headed to the Beach.  There’s nothing like packing up the Jeep and driving onto the drive on beach.  The regular beach is nice but it doesn’t even compare to the fun that you can have on the drive on.  You can bring everything you need out there, like grills, good times, Cornhole, (which is not a weird sexual move), fishing poles, a couch,  and everything else you could fit inside your jeep or truck.  If your not a fan of the ocean and the beach you can stop reading now.  Sorry for that outburst but it’s anti American to not like the beach.  The kids love it down there and could spend every moment hanging out and meeting new frineds.  Each time we go down the wife and I convince ourselves that we are going to get a beach house. Well maybe next time.

When I am on the Beach I enjoy lighter beers that don’t come off so heavy.  This week I went with Brooklyn Summer Ale and Two Roads Ol’Factory  to compliment the hot day.  Both were great picks and went perfect with the hot day and great company.  There was a mixed crowd of about twenty or more people. We got on the beach around 8 am it was cool and windy but the perfect morning to be out there.  We quickly set up the Block Rocker and got settled in for the day.  As  others showed up the grills got pulled out and everything from breakfast to brunch was being cooked up right there on the beach.  What a perfect morning.

I didn’t want to crack a beer to early but F#$% it we were on the beach.  I grabbed the Two Roads and used the bottle opener on my Jeep License plate to open it up.  The beer was a little shook up from the ride down and it money shot all over the back of the Jeep like a bad porno.  Rookie.  Bottle in hand it was down the old hatch with this lightly colored elixir.  DELICIOUS and as the temperature rose they just kept getting better.

Once I polished off the Two Roads it was onto the Brooklyn Summer Ale which is a great beer to take on the beach.  The only down fall is that it doesn’t make you feel like Jenny from the Block.  But it did make me dance a little.   This is a great summer time ale and would be good either on the Beach, back yard BBQ, or a city block party.

If you come across either one of these beers I would encourage you, no wait, you must drink these outside with friends.  These beers are not to be wasted while you sit inside and watch movies about other people having good times.  Grab a sixer of these and go make some memories.

DOW (Drinks of the Week)

Well I am supposed to be off the grid yet I have found a way to get some good beers.  This week I enjoyed a variety pack from Great Lakes Brewing Company out of Ohio.  I also had a Dog Fish Head that I haven’t had before.  This week I got to enjoy a picnic where I did Time Travel a bit but woke up safe and sound in my bed.  I have been soaking up the great weather and wonderful views.

Great Lakes Beers

So there were 4 different styles in the variety pack that I bought, Amber Lager, Lager,  IMG_3527Porter, and a Pale Ale.  I thought that they were all pretty good and went down smoothly.  I even had to drink the first couple warm because being off the grid I don’t have access to a fridge and didn’t bring a cooler.  This would later be corrected when I placed my beers in a another mans cooler.  The first beer that I cracke open was the Lagerone.  Seemed like a safe choice and it was.  It was smooth and not over whelming at all.  It was a great beer to end a long day.  Below is the order in which I enjoyed this variety pack.

  1. Lager
  2. Amber Lager
  3. Porter
  4. Pale Ale

All were good and I think that if the setting was different then these beers could have ended in a differnt order.  If you find a pack of these give them a try, and if you don’t like them stick in the fridge and give to that one cheap ass friend that comes to the house and drinks the best beers in your fridge.  Just tell him they are expensive and that asshole will be sure to clear them out for you.

Dog Fish Head

Not much to say about this one expect for delicious.  If you are on the east coast and in the tri state area try any of the Dog Fish Head Beers.  The one I drank this week was the IMG_3558Tropical Blonde.  This is a great picnic beer, smooth and a little fruity.  You know kinda like that gay cousin that comes over and always travels with hot chicks.  But seriously grab a sixer of these and you wont be disappointed.

Relax It’s Sunday

Still off the grid but having some what of a good week.  What I will tell you is that timing is a funny thing and that Murphy’s Law will get you in the end.  The night before I left the house my washing machine nearly exploded.  My cat decided that it was going to sneak out of the house when no one was looking and spent the day outside.  I am not close enough that I can just run right home and fix these things so my wife reminds how much she hates it when I have to go away.  It’s a slightly short trip but when issues happen it adds compound interest onto the problems.  Surely something else will go bad.

So my wife had to deal with Samsung on the phone about our washer, which is five years old and was purchased at a company that has gone out of business.   F$%& You HH GREGG!  So in the end she took to social media to get recommendations on a handy man when she came across Ventura Maintenance Company.  He was able to stop by the house and notify my wife that the washer is screwed.  Depressing right, but she also went on to say how helpful he was and how professional he was.  I later contacted him to thank him and once again a super awesome guy and very humble.  If you have appliance repairs and you live in the Middletown Delaware area please get a hold of Scott Ventura of Ventura Maintenance.

My wife went about her work day the same as usual.  She rose from her slumber, angry that she has to wake up, and started getting herself ready for work.  This usually consists of going down stairs getting a glass of OJ and letting out the dog.  She then will drop some food in the tiny feeding troughs for the animals and back upstairs she goes.  Once she starts prepping herself for the day she gets the girls ready with the assistance of my 8 year old.  At some point the ninja cat decided it would be a great idea to sneak past her when she either let the dog out or back in.  Her routine is the same almost each morning and she left the house like normal.

When she arrived home after picking up the girls from school she wasn’t greeted by the hungry little feline.  This little asshole only likes us when she wants something.  immediately my wife goes into a panic.  She calls me to let me know that the cat is missing.   This cat was a gift to my daughters for christmas.  So she goes outside and shakes some food to see if she will come running.  Nope nothing.  I believe my dog was smiling at this point.  Just as she was about to give up the little hunger monster came up the steps and of course acted like nothing was wrong.  I think she should have to explain herself.

Well I hope everyone enjoys a nice relaxing Sunday and gets to spend some time with their families and enjoy life.   Hug your kids a little extra this week, without giving out a lot of detail you will just have to trust me that sometimes life isn’t fair and you should appreciate the good times when you have them.  Jeff I am so sorry for your lose.
